1x Rare Antique Vintage Travel Trunk made by S W Silver and Co of Cornhill London
who were established in London in the 18th century as colonial agents and later became purveyors of campaign equipment. It retains its maker's plaque and the iron flush side handles iron cappings and iron lift up lid.
SW Silver & Co  made items for Naval and Military Officers, Midshipmen, Cadets, Civilians etc  are outfitted as heretofore at the Cabin-Passenger Outfitting Warehouse, Nos. 66 and 67, Cornhill, London 
They capitalised on the need for immigration to Australia and New Zealand and the discovery of Australian gold in 1851 must have further increased their business. In 1861 Silver advertised in the London Commercial Directory that they could supply 'Furniture for Camp, Barrack, Cabin, and Colonial Use, embracing every variety of Cabinet Work, Canteens, Trunks, Portmanteaus etc'. Their cabinet making is good quality and they cast their flush brass campaign handles with their details, as illustrated. SW Silver chests typically have these flush handles to the sides of their chest to allow for lifting.
 
Perfect in size for a large coffee table being 103 cms wide by 55 deep and 50 cms high.
The trunk has a ex owners Military Scottish name on the side of Moir-Byres
its made of pine and hardwood planks .
 
Great for home stylish design for home film TV prop.
